08 Jun 2017 Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Scholars Awarded at College Signing Day
The Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund’s illustrious group of 50 scholars has company. The newest WCMF Scholar Class was selected earlier this month for the 2017-18 school year.
The Scholars include Lin Jia Chen, Devia Terry, Badia Weeks, Robert Sim, Rafael Barcan, Karen Kim, Anna Pugsley and Juliana Concepcion. The awardees were selected based on their collective education achievements along with their dedication and emphasis placed on volunteer service in their communities.
The 2017 WCMF Class was honored during the Third Annual #ReachHigherPhilly College Signing Day at the Center. The Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund sponsored the event, which was hosted by the School District of Philadelphia and CF Charities.
Amy Hever, Executive Director of the Wilt Chamberlain Memorial Fund, was on-hand at College Signing Day to present the most recent scholarship awardees with a certificate and their official WCMF Scholarship Medal. WCMF committee members Gloria Miller and Stephanie Ortiz were also present to congratulate the 2017 WCMF Scholar Class.
WCMF representatives operated an information table at College Signing Day for the more than 5,000 college-bound students to learn more about the Fund.
The Fund will award four additional $500 scholarships to students who answer the following question: What fuels your future? To participate, respond using the hashtag #ReachHigherPhilly on Twitter. The School District of Philadelphia will select the winners.
